Mental Health Presentation for high schools
Our 'It's Not a Life Sentence' presentation will spread a life changing message that no difficulty, pain, mental illness, hardship, family issues or anything along those lines are life sentences.
Suicide is never the answer.
My name is Arineh Izmirlian and I am the Founder and Director of Power Educators.

Power Educators exists to be more than just a tutoring business, but to be a place where young students can be deeply encouraged and for us to collectively make a difference in the world of mental health.
In 2024, the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) reached out to Power Educators for a collaboration. This collaboration is one that we will cherish forever as it led to Power Educators being able to provide Encouragement Powered Tutoring to students who have experienced hardship and immense difficulty. It was also a confronting reminder that students have more going on in their lives than just their academics.

This realisation has further been solidified through my 4 years as the Director of Power Educators as so many students have reached out to me directly for mental health support and specific encouragement.

WE NEED REVIVAL IN MENTAL HEALTH STATISTICS
Suicide statistics in 2023 from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.

Our 'It's Not a Life Sentence' presentation will cover
The importance of ending the stigma behind Mental Health.
I want to confront students with the reality of suicide rates and the importance of being mental health advocates in our friend groups and our families.
Suicide is never the answer and where there is breath there is hope.
This will be achieved through the vulnerability of my own struggles, what I've overcome, and how life became more beautiful than I could have imagined.

I truly believe that vulnerability is so important when it comes to Mental Health conversations as vulnerability can reassure others that there truly is light at the end of the tunnel.
You never know what other people are going through.
I will be urging young people to leave gossip, drama, toxic relationships and fights behind.
Despite being young, I truly believe that young people can change the world and can live lives of integrity and example.
Your life has purpose and meaning - beyond your parents reproducing.
I will be encouraging young people that there is purpose and hope in every breath taken. The chances of existing is one in a billion. Nothing about that is a coincidence.
The vision behind 'It's Not a Life Sentence' is to be able to contribute to seeing revival and restoration in Mental Health Statistics. I hope that through my vulnerability in sharing my own story and through my encouragement and hopefulness, we can see true revival in the next generation.
